This week we received an American Armor Motorcycle cover from EmpireCovers to test and review. EmpireCovers has been in the business for almost 10 years producing covers for pretty much anything on wheels. For motorcycles they make seven different models. SEVEN! The American Armor is their top of the line cover featuring a Basofil fireproof lining and is advertised as being 100% US made.
The American Armor model appears to be the top of the line when it comes to motorcycle covers. Out of all seven models it has the highest price-point. It’s also a very large cover. When I first opened the box I was surprised at the size of it.
The cover came packed in a stuff bag along with a few other items including a gust guard kit and two white dog bone looking tabs. These appear to have adhesive on one side. The gust guard kit includes four clips that attach to the cover and two bungie cords. These clips are not a permanent mount and can be moved anywhere you need them to be. I am not really sure what the dog bones do but I’m sure we’ll find out soon.
As you can see in this photo, this cover is larger than a full-face helmet when packed in the stuff sack. I don’t think this was intended as a travel cover in the first place but more for storage at a single location. If you don’t have a garage or carport, this is an excellent all-weather alternative. The cover has a Basofil proprietary heat resistant inner lining so the cover can be placed on the bike as soon as it’s parked. The outside is DuPont Tyvek and it’s 100% waterproof and breathable. It is also 100% made in America.
We will be interviewing the good people of Empire and I’ll be posting a full review soon so stay tuned!
